When installing this wired sensor, make sure to place the sensor wand itself at least 20 feet away from the path of the moving gate. If it’s too close, your gate may start to close immediately after your vehicle clears the sensor, risking a collision with a following vehicle. Also, while the wand itself should not be in conduit, running the 55-foot cable within PVC conduit protects it from gophers, tree roots, and future landscaping damage.
