Garden Mulch & Ground Cover

Mulch is one of the hardest working materials in the garden — it holds moisture, moderates soil temperature, suppresses weeds, and breaks down over time to improve the soil. Hardwood bark mulch, pine bark, cedar blend, cypress blend, black mulch, brown mulch, and red mulch cover the full range of color and material preferences for landscape beds and garden paths. Rubber mulch is worth considering in high-traffic play areas or spots where you want permanent ground cover that won’t break down or wash away. A two to three inch layer is the sweet spot — enough to suppress weeds and hold moisture without smothering plant roots.
