This Ace Brass Plated Gold Steel Latch Strike Plate is a high-quality replacement for the standard strike plate on most residential interior and exterior doors. Finished in a warm, polished brass color, this steel plate measures 2-1/4 inches long, fitting the common “full lip” or curved corner cutout. Its best feature is the adjustable tab, designed to eliminate the common problem of a closed door that rattles, shakes, or has excessive movement (chatter). To utilize the anti-rattle feature, install the strike plate normally, then use a screwdriver to gently bend the adjustable tab inward (towards the stop molding) a slight amount. Close the door to test; if the door is too tight, bend the tab back out slightly. This slight adjustment ensures the door latch contacts the tab first, providing constant light pressure that eliminates any rattling when the door is closed.
