When connecting hydraulic lines, the most common difficulty comes from trapped residual pressure in the hose. If the connection is stiff, before forcing the halves together, temporarily relieve the pressure on the male tip side by pushing the tip against a solid surface, such as a wood block. This small pressure release will allow the coupler sleeve to retract smoothly, avoiding frustration and potential damage to the couplers or O-rings.
