Ensure the closed end of the block is positioned flush against the house, directly beneath the downspout opening, with the long, sloped trough pointing away from the foundation. Before setting it permanently, use a level to verify that the block has a clear, slight downward slope leading away from the house. You may need to remove a shallow layer of soil or build up the far end with a little dirt to guarantee proper drainage and prevent water from pooling near the structure.
