Extra-long wooden strike-on-box matches put distance between your fingers and the flame, and Diamond Greenlight Long Reach Matches 75 ct are made for that job. The added length gives you room to reach the back of a fireplace grate, a grill burner, or a row of candles without leaning in close. They light wood stoves, fire pits, campfire kindling, and deep jar candles where a short match runs out of stick.

Additional Information
Strike away from your body and tip the match slightly downward so the flame climbs the stick instead of dying out. On a gas grill, open the lid before you light it so gas cannot build up under the hood. Keep the box sealed in a zip bag or tin in the garage or camper, because Ozarks humidity will soften the striker strip by midsummer. Diamond has been making matches since the 1880s, and the basic idea has held up fine. A damp box of matches is just a box of sticks.
