Classification

Success with Smorgasbord depends on proper seedbed preparation that creates firm but not compacted soil conditions for optimal seed-to-soil contact. Work your ground thoroughly by disking or breaking to eliminate competing weeds, then smooth with a roller or drag to create an even surface. Broadcast the full 50-pound bag evenly across your prepared acre and lightly drag seeds to quarter-inch depth, ensuring adequate soil contact while maintaining access to moisture that drives germination and early growth.

If you don’t have a soil test, your plants will need a minimum of 400 lbs per acre of 19-19-19 fertilizer. Apply the fertilizer prior to planting on well fertilized soil. Work it in or make sure rain activates the fertilizer.
