When testing your vehicle’s circuits, it is helpful to have an assistant activate the turn signals and brake pedal while you observe the LEDs; however, if working alone, you can use a brake pedal depressor tool to hold the lights on. If an LED fails to light up, it indicates an issue on the vehicle side, such as a corroded terminal or a blown fuse, rather than a problem with the trailer itself. Periodically cleaning the vehicle-side socket with a specialized terminal cleaner before plugging in the tester will ensure a solid electrical connection and prevent false readings caused by road grime or oxidation.
