The Lovejoy L/AL 090/095 Spider Sox is the elastomeric element crucial for the function of your Lovejoy L090 and L095 jaw-type shaft couplings. This spider acts as the flexible cushion between the two coupling hubs, designed to absorb and dampen shock loads, vibration, and minor noise from the connected equipment. Made from Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (Buna-N), it offers excellent resistance to oil, dirt, and grease, making it the standard choice for general industrial applications. The spider transmits power through compression while accommodating small amounts of angular and parallel misalignment, protecting the bearings and seals of your motor and driven equipment.

When installing this new spider, clean out any residual material or debris from the jaws of the hubs first. To make the installation easier—since the fit is snug—apply a very small amount of talcum powder to the rubber element before inserting it. This allows the spider to slide smoothly into place without binding or tearing and ensures the proper spacing between the two coupling hubs is achieved.
