When attaching this offset brace to wood, the mounting slots are best utilized with carriage bolts. Inserting carriage bolts allows you to crank down the hardware tight, effectively pulling the corner of your wooden frame into a secure 90 degree angle, which greatly increases the joint’s lifespan and resistance to racking. Use an appropriately sized washer and nut on the back side for maximum holding power.
