For maximum protection, you should add this supplement to your fuel tank when the fuel temperature is still above its “cloud point” (the temperature at which wax begins to appear). Adding it at the pump before you fill up ensures the additive mixes completely and prevents crystals from forming in the first place. If your vehicle has already gelled up and will not start, this product will not be able to dissolve the existing wax; in that specific emergency, you will need to use a “rescue” product like Diesel 9-1-1 to get the fuel flowing again.
