Operates using Bluetooth Low Energy 4.2 or 5.1 with a range up to 10 meters, depending on conditions. The battery is a 3V CR2032 lithium button cell lasting about one year. The device has an IP67 rating, indicating it is dust-tight and water-resistant to immersion up to 1 meter. To sync and update data, Bluetooth and location services must be enabled on the user’s smartphone or tablet. The STIHL connected app, available for Android (5.0+) and iOS (11.0+), provides data and alerts. Its location tracking is proximity-based rather than GPS, updating only when within Bluetooth range.
