When using this tester, it is important to ensure the vehicle’s ignition is in the “on” or “accessory” position to properly test the auxiliary 12V power and electric brake circuits. If an LED fails to illuminate, the fault is located on the vehicle side—most commonly a blown fuse in the dedicated towing fuse block or a corroded terminal within the socket itself. To maintain the accuracy of the tester and ensure a clean connection, periodically apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the terminals of your vehicle’s 7-way plug to prevent oxidation and moisture intrusion.
