To determine if a 4-inch drop is correct for your setup, measure from the top of your hitch receiver to the ground, then measure from the bottom of your trailer coupler to the ground (while the trailer is level); the difference between those two numbers is the drop you need. Applying a small amount of white lithium grease or a dedicated hitch ball lubricant to the ball before hooking up will prevent the “grinding” noise and metal-to-metal wear that occurs during turns. Always double-check that the hitch pin clip is securely fastened before you pull onto the road. If you frequently tow different trailers, remember that this kit is specific to a 2-5/16 inch coupler and should not be used with smaller 2-inch couplers.
