As with all vaccines, this product requires careful handling: it must be stored in the dark at a constant temperature of 2∘C to 8∘C (or 35∘F to 46∘F) and must not be frozen. For an unvaccinated horse 10 months or older, the primary immunization requires two doses administered intramuscularly, given 3 to 6 weeks apart. Annual revaccination with a single 1 mL booster dose is necessary, and this should ideally be timed for early spring, just before the mosquito season begins, to ensure maximum protection. Always consult your veterinarian for the proper placement and technique for intramuscular injection.
