For the most secure hold, I recommend mounting these directly into a structural stud or a metal frame member rather than just the plywood skin of a trailer. If you are attaching them to a wooden floor, use through-bolts with a backing plate on the underside to prevent the hardware from pulling out under heavy tension. A small drop of oil on the hinge point once a year will keep the ring moving freely and prevent any squeaking or binding caused by road dust.
