The J-B Weld SteelStik Dark Gray Epoxy Putty Stick is a hand-mixable, steel-reinforced epoxy putty designed for fast and permanent repairs to metal and multiple other surfaces. This industrial-strength adhesive is engineered to bridge gaps and plug holes, making it an ideal solution for emergency plumbing fixes, automotive repairs, and household maintenance. Once fully cured, the epoxy provides a high-strength bond that can be drilled, tapped, machined, ground, or painted. Its specialized formulation allows it to cure even under water or in the presence of chemicals, providing a reliable seal in the most demanding environments.

For a successful bond, ensure the repair area is free of loose rust, grease, and paint; scuffing the surface with coarse sandpaper or a file will provide the mechanical “tooth” necessary for the epoxy to grip effectively. To prepare the putty, cut off the required amount and knead it with your fingers until the color is uniform and streak-free. If the putty sticks to your hands during mixing, slightly dampening your fingers with water can make it easier to handle. Once applied, try to finish the shaping within the first two to three minutes, as the material will begin to stiffen quickly as the chemical reaction takes place.
