How Is Stretch Wrap Netting Made

Modern Hay Supplies like stretch wrap netting are produced through a sophisticated extrusion process using high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The raw resin is melted and pulled into thin, incredibly strong filaments that are then knitted together to form a mesh pattern. This design allows the netting to breathe, which is essential for preventing moisture buildup and internal rot in your bales. Because the material is stretched during manufacturing, it retains a “memory” that helps it snap back and grip the hay tightly. It is a precision-engineered solution designed to withstand the tension of a modern baler while providing a uniform cover that sheds water much more effectively than traditional twine.

What Is Baler Twine Made Of

The vast majority of modern Hay Supplies utilize synthetic baler twine made from 100% virgin polypropylene. This plastic is extruded into long ribbons, which are then twisted together to create a cord with a specific knot strength. We recommend polypropylene for its incredible resistance to moisture, mildew, and rot, which is crucial if your hay is being stored in a damp barn or outside on the ground. It is also engineered to be remarkably consistent in diameter, which prevents the frustrating tangles and knotter misses that can slow down your operation during a busy harvest window. It is a rugged, man-made material built for the high-speed demands of modern square and round balers.

How Many Bales Does A Roll Of Net Wrap

The actual yield you get from your Hay Supplies can vary significantly based on the weather conditions and the type of forage you are baling. If you are working with coarse stalks or straw, you might need to increase your wrap count to 3.5 or 4 to keep the bale from falling apart, which will obviously reduce the number of bales per roll. Most modern rolls come with a “warning stripe” near the end to let you know you’re running low, but keeping a backup roll in the truck is standard practice in the 417 area. By monitoring your tension settings and the number of rotations, you can maximize your coverage and ensure every bale is tightly secured against the elements.
