The DAP 33 White Window Glazing Compound 0.5 pt is the time-tested, traditional glazing putty used by pros and homeowners alike for face glazing wood and metal window sashes. This ready-to-use, oil-based formula has a unique knife-grade consistency that makes it easy to shape, tool, and achieve the classic angled seal against glass. It sticks tightly to the sash, forming an airtight, watertight barrier that is resistant to sagging, shrinking, and cracking. This half-pint size is ideal for small repair jobs, individual panes, or minor restoration projects where a durable, authentic seal is needed.

Glazing compound requires patience. After applying the putty, you must allow it to achieve a “firm set” before painting, which can take two to three weeks, especially in cool, damp weather. To check if it’s ready, lightly touch the surface with your finger; if no print is left, it’s ready. If you plan to use a latex topcoat, you must first prime the compound with an oil-based primer after it sets to ensure proper adhesion and prevent premature paint failure.
