The Truper Hollow-Back Shovel Wood Replacement Handle 48” is a high-quality, long-handled hardwood replacement designed to give your well-loved hollow-back shovel or scoop a second life. Instead of tossing out a perfectly good shovel head, this 48-inch handle provides a durable, straight-grained wood replacement for tools that receive a lot of heavy use. The handle features the curved taper and shoulder necessary to fit snugly into the socket neck of most hollow-back style shovel and scoop heads, ensuring a professional friction fit. It is sized and built to withstand the leverage and stress of moving heavy material, making tool repair an economical and sensible option for any homeowner or commercial user.

Successfully installing this handle requires securely seating the wood deep into the shovel’s socket. After you have removed the broken wood remnants, turn the shovel head facing up and strike the end of the new handle against a hard surface (like a tree stump or concrete slab) several times. This action drives the handle in for a crucial friction fit. Once it is firmly seated, drill a hole through the existing rivet hole in the steel socket and through the new wood. Secure the handle permanently with a new rivet, bolt, and nut, ensuring the bolt head is on the side you plan to face toward the work to protect the nut from wear.
