3M Bondo Plastic Metal Filler is a reliable choice for anyone needing to mend small cracks, dents, or rusted-out spots in metal surfaces without the need for a welding torch. This air-drying compound spreads smoothly across the work area, filling in imperfections to restore a flat and even appearance to various household and automotive items. Once the filler cures, it transforms into a hard, metallic-like surface that can be sanded down, drilled, or painted to blend in with the surrounding material. It provides a practical way to fix everything from leaky gutters and metal trash cans to minor bodywork on a vehicle or tractor.

To ensure the best possible adhesion, use a coarse sandpaper to take the repair area down to bare, shiny metal before applying the filler. If the hole is larger than a quarter inch, applying a piece of metal mesh over the gap first will provide the structural support needed to keep the filler from sagging. Applying several thin layers rather than one thick glob will result in a much faster drying time and a repair that is far easier to sand smooth.
